Last weekend after months of organising we finally made it, with a lot of teams dropping out last minute the decision was made to in ahead with 5 teams. The comp was successful with soton uni walking off as winners followed closely by hamble sea scouts A team. The evening was rounded off with hog roast fireworks and music. Everone had a great time look forward to a series of events next summer.
Since i wasnt boating at the moment, around came the october half term, and with it brought explorer camp on HMS Bristol. A ship i have so many memories. The week started badly with me running the mountain biking course, all went well i got the group a mini bus and a brand new hire car, all went well. We got to the new forest where the bike hire had no idea of our booking. What to do with 15 kids? So i took them to fort purbrook in portsmouth. One of the sites i work at and managed to use the string trail and get the group climbing. This went on for sat and sun. By monday i had managed to book woodmill outdoor centre (one of my sponsors) to allow me to get the group in their for 3 days. We started the morning with a selection of activities including tunnel, low ropes archery even slipping. Followed by a macdonalds lunch to get away from the death packs. We carried onto the afternoon where with the help of ivan and jon managed to get the high ropes tower. Zip wire and high ropes course.
After a busy summer season at woodmill i took a few weeks off to go to ireland with the girl friend we drove over so spent some time living out of the van. Whilst over their we did lots of touristy things such as visiting cliffs going surfing visiting caves and looking at waterfalls. Before relaxing up at the in laws house in northern ireland before driving back via dublin to collect lots of shiny new bliss stick boats. From their spent a night in chester before carrying on down to the nene competition check out the photos below.
Alpkits Plastic fantastic series have now come to a close with a series of successful events. I caught up with the events at tryweryn, nene and nottingham. Overall a great series i decided to paddle my new mystic in the boater x tho it is a very heavy boat it is very fast on the water cant wait to get out proper creeking in it. I also paddled my new super Rad 180 found the boats got loads of pop really does go big. Just need to get used to it. Looking forward to a busy winter season hopefully with lots of water.
